§ 05Dev Log

Dev Log 03: The monuments are standing. Plus resource nodes, base structures, and Discord levels.

The monuments we teased in the first dev log are built into the map, resource nodes are spread across it, and the structures your base runs on are done. Discord leveling also got an overhaul you can use today.

· Fried

In the first dev log we told you some places would fight back. This time we can show you where. The monuments are built, resource nodes are spread across the map, and the structures your base runs on are done. There's also something you can use today, over on the Discord.

The monuments are standing

A monument rising out of the plains

There are six monuments on the Season 3 map, and none of them are in sight of spawn. Three are a short trip out. Two are further. One sits on its own out near the edge of the world, and that's the one to be careful about.

They're built into the world. A monument doesn't look like it was dropped onto the map. Each one rises out of the land around it, with the ground shaped to meet it, so you'll often notice the land changing before you see the build.

Something lives inside. Every monument is guarded, and if you clear the guards out, they'll be back before long. At the heart of each one is a boss that returns every few hours. The closest monuments are watched over by a well known face on Zyphia, so tread lightly. What waits in the other two, you'll have to find out for yourself.

What you walk out with matters. Monuments are full of loot, and some of it can't be found anywhere else. It feeds straight back into your base and armor set, which is why we expect the fights over them to get heated.

Nobody owns a monument. Monuments can't be claimed. Every one of them is a warzone, so anyone else inside is fair game, and so are you.

Resource nodes are out in the world

A patch of resource nodes

Resource nodes are now spread across the whole map, on the surface and underground. There are six kinds: the Stone Outcrop, Timber Stand, Iron Outcrop, Sulfur Crag, Diamond Outcrop, and the Ancient Grove.

They come in patches. Nodes of the same kind show up together. The common ones spread out in big patches you'll trip over. The rarer the node, the smaller its patch, and the harder it is to find.

Hit it anywhere. Every block of a node is the node. Swing at it and its health shows on your action bar. Any tool will do, but the right one is a lot faster. Listen while you work, too. The sound drops as the node runs dry, and every kind has its own ambience, so you can hear a rare one before you see it.

Then it breaks. A spent node bursts apart and comes back a few minutes later, so a good patch is worth coming back to.

You can't fence one in. Claim the land under a node and it moves to another patch of its kind. Nodes belong to whoever gets to them first.

Your base is getting busier

A faction base's worth of structures

The first dev log promised a whole set of structures you place, grow, and protect. They're done. Each one comes as a kit. Place it on your land and the build goes up right where you put it.

Some dig. Generators work your land for you. The smaller ones quarry stone, mine iron, and cut timber. The big extractors go after diamonds, sulfur, and the rarest metal in the game, and they take their time about it. Keep them fueled and they keep working, even while you're offline.

Some smelt. What comes out of the ground isn't ready to use yet. A Refiner turns it into something you can build with, and the bigger it grows, the more it handles at once.

Some hold everything. Storage Chests, Silos, and your faction's Vault keep what you've earned, shared with your whole faction. Every one of them can be raided. The Vault opens from your Faction Core, and each faction only gets one, so guard it like you mean it.

They grow with you. Upgrade a structure and it grows in place, getting bigger and better at its job. Every kind has its own look, so you can tell what a base is running at a glance. So can the faction raiding it.

Your base also gets its own stations for crafting, research, and enchanting, plus a few things we're saving for later.

And cannons. They're getting a dev log of their own. Stay tuned.

Leveling on the Discord

Leveling has been running on our Discord for a while, quietly. Too quietly, and far too slowly at the top. As of today, that's fixed.

The top roles are within reach. You still earn XP the same way, by chatting. What changed is the climb. Every level now costs a set amount more than the one before, so the higher roles belong to regulars, not to people who never log off. Everyone's level has been recalculated, and most of you went up.

You'll know when you level up. The bot now calls it out right where it happened, and tells you when you've earned a new role.

Level 10 unlocks more. From level 10, you can attach files and post media links in the community channels. Server Boosters get the same.

Roles at 10, 25, 50, and 100. Check where you stand with /level, and see who's on top with /leaderboard.

Come be part of it

Jump in the Discord and start climbing. We'll be posting everywhere else too. TikTok, YouTube, and X. Pick whichever one you actually check.

The world is almost ready for you. See you out there.
